The village of Rugby, established in the 1880s, is a living community and a historic site that is preserving the story of the English families who attempted a cooperative enterprise on the Cumberland Plateau. History, Highways, and Haunts, LLC has partnered with Historic Rugby, Inc. to offer visitors “after dark” tours of this historic location.

Private Paranormal Investigations
Private paranormal investigations are of the town ONLY and do NOT include lodging.

If you are planning an investigation and would like to stay at one of Rugby's many lodging options, you will need to book your investigation of the village through our calendar and then book your overnight lodging with Historic Rugby, Inc.

Private Paranormal Investigation - 6.5 hours, lodging not included.

Your group will have guided access to at least 4 of the historic structures in Rugby: The Thomas Hughes Library, the Kingston Lisle, The Rugby Schoolhouse, and Uffington house.

You can investigate the grounds around these buildings as well.

Your investigation hours will be from 8:30pm to 3:00am

The buildings are not climate controlled, so dress accordingly for the weather forecast on your investigation night.

Cost: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night: $500 (plus tax) for teams of 8 people. Non-refundable deposit of $100 is due at the time of booking. Final balance is due in CASH upon your arrival. You must have the exact amount as change will not be given.

Bookings are for professional paranormal teams/individuals and spots cannot be individually re-sold for that team’s profit.

Your investigation cannot be billed as an event.

Guided Ghost Hunts

The village of Rugby is immersed with a historic and haunting past, and many of the original buildings from the 1880s are still standing to tell their tales. Join us as we tour several of the original buildings and homes, each reported to have ghostly occurrences and unexplained happenings. Led by Ghost Biker Explorations and/or Soul Sisters Paranormal, the Guided Ghost Hunt tours will allow each visitor to experience an immersive ghost hunt, and you will be introduced to tools and techniques used by actual paranormal investigators who study the realm of the unexplained.
xWe offer both public and private guided ghost hunts. If you have a small group of 4 to 6 people and would like to schedule a private guided ghost hunt with our professional investigators, we can customize a guided ghost hunt on a date that's not on the event calendar. Is the tour on Eastern Standard Time?Yes.

Is there a minimum number of "tickets sold" for the tour to depart?A minimum of 3 paying tour guests is required for either of the tours to depart. If this minimum is not met, your payment will be refunded.

Is there a dress code for this tour?This is a walking tour of the historic village of Rugby, and closed toe shoes are highly encouraged. Portions of the tour are guided over grassy terrain, gravel, and uneven surfaces. Guests assume all responsibility for their ability to navigate this walk.

What is prohibited on this tour?Open flames of any type; drugs; alcohol; fireworks; beer; wine; tasers; weapons.

Is smoking / vaping allowed?No. Absolutely no smoking or vaping is allowed on any of our tours

What if I have a group that has more than 10 people?We can absolutely accommodate private groups; please contact us directly to set up a date and tour for your group.

Is this a rain or shine event?Yes. Our tours will commence in either rain or shine. Should severe weather threaten or be forecasted, we will contact you regarding cancellation and rainchecks.

Do you provide refunds ?Currently, we do not issue refunds. However, at our discretion and when possible, we will attempt to accommodate you and your party on a future tour. If the tour is canceled due to not meeting the mimimum "tickets sold" requirement, you will be given a refund or the option to reschedule on another tour.

Does my ticket purchase help support the village of Rugby?Yes. A portion of each ticket sold goes directly to Historic Rugby, Inc and to the preservation of the village and its buildings.

Are the buildings ADA compliant?The buildings that we will be accessing during the tour are original to the village of Rugby and are on the National Register of Historic Places. As such, they are not ADA compliant. Each guest on the tour accepts responsibility for his/her ability to navigate the tour terrain.
